The FSE Network forming roots in Europe

FUSIONS supports the Food Surplus Entrepreneurs Network (FSE), a network facilitating the exchange and collaboration between entrepreneurs using or reducing food surplus. The FSE Network has expanded very fast in the past few months around Europe. FSE now has hubs in Paris, Brussels, London, Berlin and Amsterdam. They have recently organised “The Food Waste Collab”, back-to-back with the FUSIONS RPM in Paris, and pitched their ideas to global leaders at the “No More Food to Waste Conference” in the Hague.

The Food Waste Collab gathered 75 food surplus entrepreneurs from across Europe on 27 May in Paris. The Food Surplus Entrepreneurs Network and FUSIONS organised this collaborative event for social innovators to exchange experience and best practices in order to co-create the Zero Food Waste City. Different crowdsourcing sessions were organised around policy replication of social innovation around food waste as well as dedicated workshops on new business models and synergies between food surplus entrepreneurs. The event was followed by a conference were participants had the opportunity to meet Guillaume Garrot –the French politician who proposed the most recent legislation on food waste in France. The event’s pictures and content provide an illustrative overview.

During the “No More Food To Waste” conference in The Hague, the Food Surplus Entrepreneurs Network and FUSIONS organised a pitching competition where 7 social innovators presented their food waste project. Following a two minute pitch of each entrepreneur, fifty conference participants, which included policy leaders, research institutions and civil society, gave Kromkommer the award of the best social innovation project in the competition. Kromkommer had the opportunity to present their project to all conference participants during a plenary session (photo). Read more about the event here.
