FOOD WASTE 2015: From Theory to Practice
Thursday 01 October 2015

Description

A conference on food waste is organised by the professional Business for Society platform as part of the “Food Help programme.

The conference is a follow-up to the two previous conferences on food waste which aimed to highlight the burning ethical, social and environmental issue of food waste, which results in a loss of money, waste of human labour, resources depletion and other environmental impacts.

This year’s conference will deal with practical issues related to the prevention of food waste, strengthening the redistribution of food surpluses, and the latest findings in quantifying food waste.

The conference targets representatives of retailers and suppliers, experts, high-level government officials, researches and practitioners from the Czech Republic and abroad. It aims at providing a platform for the exchange of know-how and best practices in preventing and combating food waste.

Another aim of the Prague meeting is to provide an inspiration to neighbouring countries from Central and Eastern Europe, where the issue of food waste is not currently a topic of discussion. Furthermore, the conference intends to inspire more research and systematic data collection as important tools in the process for developing effective policies and measures that will make it possible to tackle the issue of food waste.

Working language of the conference is English and Czech. Simultaneous interpreting will be provided.
