Hacettepe University is one of the leading state universities in Turkey. The Food Engineering Department has research activities covering several aspects related to food science, technology and engineering. The key areas of expertise include processing technologies for fruit and vegetables, cereals, milk and meat. The recently established Food Research Center has a strong network composed of leading food manufacturers, retailers, consumer associations, and ministries in Turkey. The center has been providing consultancy to private enterprises from SMEs to larger scale enterprises on raw material stabilisation, prolonging shelf-life, waste minimisation, and by-product valorisation issues.
