Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN - FAO

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations that leads international efforts to combat hunger and malnutrition. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO is also a source of knowledge and information, and helps developing countries and countries in transition modernise and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices, to ensure good nutrition and food security for all. It has developed and implemented programmes and projects on food losses prevention and reduction at all stages of the agri-food supply chains since the 1970’s, and has researched food safety and quality for consumers and consumer behaviour and education in this respect as well.
